What do you do if ChatGPT says something wrong about your company?
Find the source and fix it. AI assistants usually repeat something written somewhere online, or fill gaps when clear information is missing. Once the sources are fixed and your own information is clear, the answers typically correct themselves over time.
What to do
- Ask the question in several assistants and see which sources they link to.
- Fix errors on your own website, and state the correct information clearly: what you sell, where, prices and contact details.
- Update your Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, CVR, Proff and industry portals.
- Contact the sites with wrong information and ask them to correct it.
- Give feedback in the assistant with a thumbs down and an explanation.
How long does it take?
Answers based on search can change within weeks once the sources are fixed. What the model learned in training only changes with new model versions. That is why the correct information needs to be in many places.
When it is serious
If the wrong information is about a person, you can use the providers’ personal data forms. For serious, harmful errors, talk to a lawyer.
