How do you measure whether ChatGPT recommends you?

Pick 20–30 questions your customers realistically ask, test them every month in the main AI assistants, and note whether you are mentioned. Answers vary between runs, so the trend over months is what counts.

Pick the right questions

Write the questions the way customers would, not as your own keywords. Mix the types:

  • Recommendations: “Which company can …?”
  • Local: “Who is best at … in Aarhus?”
  • Comparisons: “What is the alternative to …?”
  • Price: “How much does … cost?”
  • Problems: “How do we solve …?”

Test the same way every time

  • Use ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers.
  • Start a new conversation for each question, and stay logged out where possible.
  • Ask each question at least twice, because answers vary.
  • Test in the same week every month.

What to note

  • Whether you are mentioned, and in which position.
  • Which competitors are mentioned.
  • Which sources the assistant links to. They show where you need to be mentioned.
  • Whether the description of you is correct.

How to read the result

Work out the share of answers that mention you and follow it month by month. One answer says little, but a rise over three to six months shows the work is paying off.
